Women’s Fashion – Advice From An Expert
Many people are afraid of experimenting with color when it comes to the clothes they choose to wear. Lots of us prefer to play it safe and stick to neutral shades like black, brown and gray. However, with a bit of thought and experimentation it’s possible to create dramatic looks by using color and people should not be afraid to have a bit of fun with their clothes.
Experimenting with colors can give your wardrobe a whole new lease of life and even change the way you look. There are companies dedicated to helping people find the right colors that will suit their complexion. An easy thing you can do for yourself is to research color wheels on the internet; these teach you about the various relationships between the colors and help you to understand the color palette better.
Colors generally fall into one of two categories. Some colors are warm shades and have yellowy undertones and other colors are cool and will have bluish undertones. If you can work out whether warms tones or cool tones suit you best you will be able to choose clothes in colors that enhance your complexion. You can generally work out which colors will suit you by matching them to your skins tone and your natural hair color.
Once you understand the thinking behind warm and cool colors you can extend it to mixing and matching the clothes in your wardrobe. The general rule of thumb is that warm colors go with warm colors and cool colors go with cool. However this is not set in stone and you can have fun experimenting and finding out what works and what doesn’t.
The fashion for color coordinating all your accessories such as your shoes, handbag, belt and jeweler etc. was once the way to go but is now considered to be a fashion faux pas. Parisian women supposedly have a rule that you should never wear more than three colors in your outfit – this is generally a good rule to follow, although rules are made for breaking and you needn’t stick to this hard and fast. However by not overloading on color you will look more chic and avoid the thrown together look.
For those who prefer to stick to their favorite neutral shades or those who are still not convinced you can add splashes of color to any outfit via accessories such as shoes, coats or scarves. This is a safer way to have fun with color and brighten up your usual look.
